Shivers (PC) Review

A few old memories lead me to this game. Back then my little brother had bought it, thinking it would be a good horror game to play chasing around ghosts like a bug-catcher. I don't think we played much of it, though, as we just wound up walking away confused. Looking back, I chalked it up to us being idiot kids who were much more into twitch-bang-shootie games then it actally not being very good, so I wanted to give it a fair shake. And since it was re released cheap on GOG.com, I decided to give it a shot again. It was absolutely awesome as it started up, filled with 90s cheese and actually intelligent puzzles to progress... but lets just call this a bubblegum game. It lost it's taste well before I was done chewing.

Transformers Devestation (PC) Review

Anyone who knows me knew the moment this game was announced it was going to wind up in my library. After all, I didn't stick with a lot of the franchises I loved as a kid, but something about the giant robots from Cybertron always stuck with me, and to see them now take form like they did when I was little was very exciting. But at the same time, as a fan of the franchise, I have seen many bad Transformer games over the years, so I watched cautiously... until I finally saw the game played by none other then "Motherfucker" Mike of Cinemassacre. I was sold, and as soon as I finished playing SOMA, I began playing.

Destiny (Xbox One) Review: Second Opinion

Once again, please welcome Joes Xbox Name with his own take on the game Destiny:

On September 9th 2014, Destiny was released for Xbox360, PS3, XboxOne and PS4. Being Bungie’s first outing since the well-received Halo Reach in 2010, and the most expensive original IP to grace the videogame industry, Destiny has been heavily watched during its four year development cycle. Not only was Destiny produced by the company who created a defining game franchise of the FPS genre for the past decade, but the longevity of the game was bolstered through a ten year additional content plan after the initial release. To many this seemed like the end all be all for the FPS genre if not for the entire generation of gaming. But does Destiny live up to the hype?

Destiny (Xbox One) Review

And here we have it, the single biggest hyped game of 2014, and for my brothers, it was the reason they both bought Xbox Ones. I promised them I would play with them, starting with this game, so of course reserved and picked it up myself. And now I’ve finally put my controller down as I have finished playing. So what did I think? Well, to be quite honest had I known what this game was going to be like, we would likely not all have Xbox Ones yet. This was simply not worth it.

Seriously, Activision? Couldn’t You Just Leave Bay Out of This?

If’ you’ve seen the video, you know exactly what I’m talking about. If not, have a look:

Notice something about this trailer? Something glaring, off-putting, and a warning of what might be coming? You are not alone.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron (PC) Review

2012-08-21_00004

Once again, the Transformers have it the PC with High Moon Studios picking up the reigns. When this did this with War For Cybertron, they created an amazing game, and the second time anyone on any platform got a descent Transformer game ever. (In case you are wondering, the first was the Trasnformers for PS2… the one made to go with the Armada cartoon.)

Now we have a proper sequel, and it’s time to see if High Moon Studios can do it again. Read on and roll out!

Politics in Video Games

If you live in the United States, the idea of politics polarizing people is probably not very alien to you. It’s been going on for a long time. It’s gotten so bad that I can personally attest to hearing stories about how local stores were making policies in which politics could not be talked about at all in the office. This may sound reasonable to “keep the peace” but think about that for a moment. You can’t voice your view because it might piss off the guy next to you because you lean right or left? Really? But it wasn’t even for reasons that “benign,” but because customers were actually choosing to shop or not shop based on what some guy at a cash register believed in their political views….. and that was 6 years ago. Things have only gotten worse since then, and now it’s spread like a plague to our favorite hobby and the gamers we share it with.
