As another week comes to an end, it was time to show off another game you might see played during the big Extra Life marathon. And once again the game selected was a smaller one I was able to finish up in one sitting. This time, we are much more homebound, however, as we wander the apartment while home alone. The doorbell may not be working, but that's ok. You are welcome anytime. Come on in.
This is not a game that waited very long to play. Having picked it up on the Steam Summer sale, I had expected to put it aside for a lot longer. But instead thanks to another weekend game to show off for Extra Life, it jumped the line and I finished it in a single sitting. It's not a long game, but it was a long stream... I just couldn't let it go as I absolutely had a blast the entire time.
Hi everyone! Once again checking in as a few more months have slipped by and November is getting ever closer to us. With this month comes the big day us Lifers look forward to, the 24-hour gaming marathon!
But I'm getting ahead of myself. After all, if this is your first time on the page, you may not yet know what I'm talking about. But the answer to that is simple: Extra-Life!
But what is Extra-Life? Well, first and foremost, Extra-Life is a charity event gamers from around the world take part in. We all pick a hospital we want to play for and drive donations to help them and the sick kids they are taking care of, culminating in early November when we take on the big event: a 24-hour gaming marathon. That's right. Extra-Life is all about playing video games to help sick kids. Sound impossible? Not at all. I myself can attest to taking part in this event since it first started, but if you want the origins, I would let the site itself tell the tail far better then I ever could.
And no, you don't have to worry about maintaining things. All you need to do is sign up (button on the main page of the Extra-Life site) and ask for help from your friends, family, workplace, you name it. And any help you bring to the table yourself is also more then welcome to help the kids who truly need it the most. All resources and details you could need are right there.

Once again we find ourselves looking over a one-off game shown off for Extra-Life. Designed to be a short atmospheric experience, I wasn't expecting a lot out of it, but I was wrong. What it is meant to do, it is a masterpiece at, and I am REALLY glad I walked into this gut-punch of an experience.
I had some high hopes for this game when it came up in the dice rolls. After all, the trailers looked amazing and promised some solid demonic combat. But it didn't take long for the game to dash my hopes of anything good being here. In fact, I knew I was in for a wild ride before I even finished setting the game up. It became obvious quite quickly that this is the kind of game I play so you don't have to.
I have to admit, I picked this one up shortly before finishing Saints Row IV because I was legit enjoying myself that much with the game. I already knew Agents of Mayhem was a severe departure not worth my time and the less we talk about the reboot, the better. But I was hoping to get just a little bit more of this formula and all the goodness of it out of this stand alone expansion. I will not tell you it was a waste of my time, because it wasn't. I did have fun with this one, but it just can't even begin to compare to what the previous games offered.
Sometimes free games mean trying something completely different then your normal style, and this would be one of those times. The farming/ranching/life sim games are not normally where I play, but when Epic Games offered it for free it was a decision that came to "why not?" And as I finish up, I have to admit, I'm kinda glad I made that choice.
