Extra Life 2018 begins! (And a much overdue recap)

Well, officially, Extra Life began within the first week of January (and probably the 1st), but for us at the Red Sector, it begins now. We have settled into the new year and it’s time to return. If you want to help us, there is a brand new thermometer on the side of the page which will lead you to the team donation page. And update, Extra-Life has heard the complaints! Clicking the big green donate page will now open a wizard to take you through the process of donating in the team’s name!

At this time, however, we are still VERY early in the year, so as much as donations are welcome (and if you choose to help us, thank you so much, from me, from my team, and from the kids we will work together to help), right now I think it’s more about recruiting. So how about it? Do you want to help kids out in your local hospital? Do you want to do so by playing video games? If this sounds good to you, please come check out www.extra-life.org and get the details! And thank you for your time.

But I believe on that note, I have a very long over-due recap for the 2017 event, so come on inside if you are interested in that.

Extra Life Update

As September comes to a close we get ever closer to that November 4th game-date, and things are starting to pick up! Unfortunately totals we are at right now are not really available, but with over 25 thousand people signed up, we are definitely off to a good start. And that goes for us as well. As I type this, we have brought $450 to the table for the kids and are starting to get close to the range we hit last year!

But we still have a ways to go to meet and beat that goal, which we obviously want to do. And we will certainly need your help to do so! So what can you do? Well if you see that thermometer to the side of this post, that is a link to our team’s extra-life page, where you can pick a player to donate to or even to the team directly. I will be honest, I do not know how that works as I only realized it was possible this morning, but anything you want to do to help us help the kids is more then appreciated.

Extra Life Raffle is Dead.

Well, it was fun while it lasted, and we did plan to do it again, but…. that can not happen anymore. Changes Valve has made to the Steam Gift system have just rendered our yearly raffle impossible.

With a New Year, Extra Life ALSO Begins Anew

Happy New Year everyone! I can only hope everyone had a fun time this weekend celebrating the end of 2016. I know I did as me and the crew for this site got together for drinks, gaming, and way too much Rick & Morty. But we did so celebrating two points.

On a personal note, we here smashed our own personal record as we managed to bring in $670 on our own, but while this was a nice personal achievement for the year, it was nothing compared to what Extra Life in total managed in this 2016 run. I am pleased to announce to anyone who has not yet heard that 2 days before the end of the year, we as a total gaming community managed to bring $9,000,000 to help sick children in our local hospitals.

But on such a note, the even has drawn to a close… and 2017’s run has begun with the new year and we, of course are eager to be a part of it. More announcements will come, but as of now, I wanted to share our team page. So please, if you wish to donate and help us begin again, you can choose a player to donate under here or find them under the roster tab when you click the new thermometer!

Obviously, more news will follow, but for now I am just glad for those who had a great holiday and honored to have been a part of such a magnificent event… and knowing we can make this year even more so.
