Coldside (PC) Review

When I saw the trailer for this game, it had my attention. When I read further to find out it was inspired by the SCP project, I threw it on my wishlist in Steam. And last year as part of the winter sale, I picked it up for my backlog. And like The Old Man, it refused to stay contained for too long. And also like that creature, encountering it at first had me nervous that I had made a terrible mistake considering it doesn't have a real title screen (why there is no title picture for this review) and the menu's language selection using non-English characters. But unlike that particular SCP, this first impression proved very incorrect and I'm happy it visited my gaming time.

Ys: The Oath in Felghana (PC) Review

I think I can honestly say I now have some history with this game, having played through three other tiles in the franchise so far. And while this seems to be "more of the same" from the set, I don't think that's such a bad deal. In fact, I've already lined up the next one. Come on inside.

Decay: The Mare (PC) Review

I've always been a sucker for stories where your mind is as much the enemy as anything. After all, anything can happen in your head, right? So of course this game would find it's way into my collection. And after playing through it, I can honestly say I'm glad it did.

LiEat (PC) Review

Curiosity drove me to this game a long time ago. After all, what could the ability to eat lies lead to? And while I can not say this was an epic adventure, I can at least say it was worth the time I spent with them.

This game is not just a single title like I expected when I first installed it, but a trilogy of short indie RPG titles that come bundled and can only be installed together. As such this review will cover each in turn with one section to cover any bugs found across the collection.

Shin Megami Tensei V (Switch) Review

What can I even say about this game? Back when the Switch was announced this was one of the titles that drew my attention. I have been a fan of the franchise for many years now, starting with my first taste towards the end of the PS2 era with a copy of Persona 3 and there was no looking back. Since then I have gotten into as many of the franchise as I could get my hands on and while I know I will never be able to collect them all, I wasn't going to miss this. I had a the console ready and this was the second game I would play on it (and the third I would finish). I don't know how many more games I will play on this machine just yet, but this was definitely a worthy journey to get one for.

Extra Life 2023 begins!

Wow does time fly. 15 years ago, the owner of a now defunct gaming site shared the tragedy of a family he was close with, literally breaking down in the middle of their weekly podcast. I should know, I was driving into work listening to it, and it was hard to even hear. Wanting to honor the little girl they lost, he created a one time charity event to say thank you to the hospital that helped the young lady through her struggle... and it was an absolute success as we rallied to the cause in a way he probably never expected.

The community rallied so strongly, it took all of two weeks before a sequel run would be announced for the next year... and every year after growing bigger and bigger into the global charity event we now know as Extra Life. It's been my absolute honor to see it and be a participant from the very beginning... and today we announce we are coming back to do it again.

If you don't know what Extra Life is, it is a charity event that is run by the Children's Miracle Network every year where gamers from around the world play games and collect donations to help sick kids. We each pick a hospital we directly play for and all donations are handled by CMN directly, and while we all play from time to time through the year, it all culminates to a 24 marathon to celebrate and push the drive to it's max in November. This year the big day for most will be November 4th (so those playing on the official day will be going 25 hours thanks to daylight savings).

If you wish to help us help these kids, you can on our official Extra Life drive page. The site collects donations from the first of January to the last of December, so if you wish to help but miss the big day, it's ok. It's frankly never too late to help the kids.

But what if you want to help more directly? Well sign right up and join the fight for the ones who need it most! You will be doing with your hobby something amazing. Game on and feel good helping others while you game! Like everyone involved world-wide, we will be routing for you!

In either case, thank you for listening and I hope to see you out there!
